October is national Energy Awareness Month. Here at My Home 2.0, we
bless the families with devices, and computers, and all sorts of power
hungry gadgets. Sometimes, however, the gurus get so "consumed" with our projects that we
overlook the energy demand of our great projects!
Well this month I will be showcasing energy technology available on the market today, and projects I've worked on that help bring Energy Awareness to You, the Consumer.
We've been having a real war in my house lately. If you're a parent, you've probably been through the same skirmishes. I'm speaking, of course, of the Great Battle of Eat Your Vegetables...
Thanks to a lack of technology, Mary Wurtz was putting her friends' noses out of joint when she didn't have a way to keep her catering prices consistent...
Shane and Aleasa Word, along with their five children, are a musically-gifted family who didn't have an outlet for their creativity...
Rich and Nancy Jaeger live in a 55+ community in Delaware, but the only thing slowing down in their house was their computer...
So today is my last official day working on My Home 2.0....

Joe and Mary Wurtz were trying to get a catering business off the ground while fighting with older computer equipment. They were so worried about their kids not having good technology education that they moved them to another school. The Gurus not only set the Wurtzes up with a solid foundation for their blossoming business, but they also transformed the unused basement into a gathering place not only for friends to come over for fun and games, but for potential catering clients to sample Mary's wares...

The seven members of the Word family are musically talented, but had old technology for writing songs and listening to music. They also didn't have equipment that let them come together as a family and watch television - all they had was "Yellowvision." The Gurus not only set them up to make beautiful music together with a digital wall harp and renovated play room, but redid their living room with a 47" HDTV (equipped with FiOS Premiere TV service) that retracts into a cabinet when not being used...

Rich and Nancy weren't slowing down at all, but their equipment was. While Rich struggled with an older computer that couldn't keep up with his fast-paced stock trading, Nancy attempted to quilt for distant family members on a broken, 30 year old sewing machine. The Gurus literally knocked Rich off his feet with a 15 Mbps* FiOS connected computer so that he can be a power trader from the comfort of his home office. Nancy can watch her new HDTV while she makes quilts on a new, computerized sewing machine. And their neighbors can enjoy the 61" HDTV at the community center, as well as a 20" iMac to share...
When I'm not building crazy stuff I like to relax by getting in some quality coaster time. Here's a vid of me riding some coasters at my local park, Dorney Park.

So, if you read Part 1 of my post-wrap reflections of Indiana, you may be thinking, "Okay, so two episodes in a week and some cheapo fake jewelry...where's the 'crazy,' Jim 2.0?"
Well, the true craziness happened over the final two days, with our first-ever two-block-party weekend....
Here at My Home 2.0, we like to make dreams come true for the families, and sometimes this leads to us Guru's creating some interesting devices and systems. Individually, the Guru's have created projects that some of you thought were interesting, phenomenal, or just plain unimaginable. However all of our projects to date have been solo or two-man team projects.

So the burning question of the hour is what happens when you combine FiOS with the copacetic craftsmanship of Brian, the eclectic enumeration of Lloyd, and the poetic passion of Alison Lewis?
Prepare to be "fed" a delectible meal of ingenuity, design, and engineering...
